Our Scanning Process

FREE PICK-UP

Complimentary pick-up and drop off of your valuable prints. Photos are placed into archival plastic to reduce the deterioration process.

HANDLING

Photos are placed in archival plastic cases into a fire/water/moisture proof safe until ready to scan.

Photos receive our white glove treatment and are handled with utmost care and respect. No liquids are permitted in our scanning areas.

INSPECTION

With white gloves, photos are inspected for dust/debris and are gently wiped using a non-destructive cloth prior to scanning.

FILE OUTPUT

Photos are digitized and are converted to compressed .JPG files. Archival .TIFF files are available as upgrade.

RESOLUTION

Photos are scanned at 300, 600, or 1200 pixels per inch (ppi).

PHOTO PRINT SCAN SIZE

Our photo specific sheet-fed scanner will digitize wallet sizes and up to 8"x12".

Our flat bed (like copy machines) will digitize, smaller prints delicate and large photos/artwork up to 12x18.

TYPE OF SCAN

Our sheet-fed scanner can digitize both sides of the print at the same time. Great if you have handwritten notes from your loved one or exposure number from film photography.

Our flat bed is able to scan single sides at a time.

FILENAMING & METADATA

Filenames is an identifying name given to your digital photo file. Our filename convention can be customized to how much information you want to see in your file directory.

WHAT ABOUT CHEAPER PHOTO  SCANNING COMPANIES?

As they are cheap and quality is okay, make sure that they are scanning it in the US and not sending it out to other countries to scan your photos. We recommend scanning your photos locally.
